CV misrepresentation is on the rise, according to a new report, however it is important for jobseekers to avoid the temptation to lie when applying for a position.
The report carried out by PeopleChecking found that two thirds had encountered individuals which embellished qualifications on their resume.
It showed that job hunters were more likely to inflate their grades at degree level, with others also opting to make up grades from their time at school when doing A-levels and GCSEs.
However, there have been a number of high profile examples in recent times which have shown why CV embellishment should be avoided, with the cost shown to be high for both businesses and the individual if they are caught out.
In November last year, Sally Bercow, the wife of the speaker of the House of Commons was sacked from a leading London public relations firm after it claimed that she had lied about having a degree from Oxford University.
