A Business Development Manager’s main focus is to expand a company's product reach and profit revenues by identifying new markets and attracting new clients.
The Business Development Manager is required to research new business opportunities, develop strategic plans and sales strategies, and undertake negotiations with prospective customers.
It is your job to organise and lead a team of Business Administrative Executives, set sales targets for individuals and the team as a whole, often according to guidelines and targets set by head office.
A Business Development Manager must have considerable sales experience, be an organised and strong negotiator, and be aware of and respond to economic trends, government policies and currency fluctuations.
Your Functions May include
Business development involves evaluating a business and then realising its full potential, using such tools as marketing, sales, information management and customer service.
As a Business Development Manager your functions include identifying target markets and opportunities, writing proposals and business model design.
You should be able to formulate and clearly present a sales and business strategy. The strategy should contain a clear vision followed by time-bound actions in order to achieve consistent success. It should also include a situation analysis of your company including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to assist in the development of a strategic plan for the future of the business.
