Construction Planner Job Description

A Construction Planner is responsible for the planning of logistics, budgets and all other facets of a building project. It is their job to ensure that the project is completed within budget and on time. To do this a Construction Planner must be able to work with budgets, targets, building laws, environmental laws, as well as be able to work within and lead a team.

 

A Construction Planner needs to be methodical, articulate and well conversed in all areas of the construction industry. You could oversee a number of projects at once, or you could work on a large project on your own or within a team.

Construction Planner functions include


As a Construction Planner you would need to be able to work independently and also within a team, utilising a wide range of skills such as written and verbal communication, mathematics and knowledge of construction methods and materials. You could meet with Architects, Surveyors, Construction Managers, Town Planners and buyers.

 

If you were to become a Construction Planner you would need to plan work schedules, timings, construction materials and all other requirements for completion of the job. Prior to construction, you would work on Tender and Contract Planning to secure the business. Once started you would need to conduct regular site visits, progress monitoring and progress reporting.
