Light commercial vehicles (LCV), or category N1, is the formal term in the European Union for goods vehicles with a Gross vehicle mass (GVM) of up to 3.5 tonnes. Vehicles which qualify in this catergory are pickup trucks and vans, both commercially based or passenger car derived.
LCV Vehicle Technicians service and repair vehicles in this category by working on all areas of vehicle mechanics and electrics, from the engine and exhaust systems to the air-conditioning and security features.

As vehicles become more sophisticated you could specialise in repairing the technology used to control vehicle systems. As an experienced LCV Vehicle Technician you may carry out MOT tests or convert traditional engines to liquid petroleum gas (LPG). You might also have the opportunity for more creative work such as customising vehicles in line with the owners' instructions.
