A Telemarketer works within a Telemarketing Department, Customer Services Department or Call Centre. Telemarketing is a form of direct marketing and the Telemarketer is responsible for initiating sales or interest in products from potential customers. An effective telemarketing process often involves two or more calls. The first call (or series of calls) determines the customer’s needs and the final call (or series of calls) motivates the customer to make a purchase.
Telemarketer functions include
As a Telemarketer your function would be to provide relevant facts and information for the company’s Development, Marketing and Sales Departments. An important part of the fact finding process is to establish where Account Managers or the Sales force should best direct their attention to succeed in making a sale. A Telemarketer is also responsible for monitoring sources of lead generation including the web and other forms of literature.
You would also be responsible for ensuring that the Marketing and Sales database is maintained. A Telemarketer is often tasked to set appointments which means that a Telemarketer must develop a strong relationship with the Account Managers or Sales force to prioritise targeted appointment setting. You may also be required to co-ordinate their diaries and ensure that appointments are secured.
