As a Telephone Sales Executive you would be expected to work alongside a Sales Manager to initiate interest in the products and services of your company, in order to generate sales. Your performance is usually benchmarked against sales targets set by the company. The role is generally a mixture of Telesales Account Management of the company’s existing customers and New Business prospecting.
Telephone Sales Executive functions include
As a Telephone Sales Executive your duties will include making Outbound telesales calls and arranging appointments for Account Managers or the Sales force. You will be required to keep them supplied with a constant stream of leads and co-ordinate their diaries to ensure the appointments are secured. You will also deal with Inbound Sales Enquiries, generated by your Marketing and Advertising department.
You will need Market Research skills in order to prospect potential clients by identifying key decision makers within the company, exploring their wants, needs, issues and future plans. You will also require Sales skills in order to build a profitable sales pipeline. This would include identifying potential prospects or leads at the different stages of the sales cycle, and then measuring their progress through the pipeline, from unqualified lead to satisfied repeat customer.
Your function will also be to co-ordinate Telesales Campaigns by looking at leads and prospects and assessing the likelihood that they will convert to a customer. A summary of this information along with their expected spend would be presented to the Sales Manager who may use it to project how much revenue the Company is expected to make. This information may be used to plan for new product launches. You may also take customer management calls, such as as service issues, pending orders and dealing with supply problems. Administrative duties will include the maintenance of the Sales and Marketing database.
