Commodity Manager
Salary: £35,000 - £39,000 Benefits
Location: Aylesbury

Our Client offers an extensive range of products, systems and services for aircraft and engine manufacturers, airlines and defence forces around the world. Due to continued expansion they are currently recruiting for a Commodity Manager who will be responsible for managing defined commodities within the scope of the Supply Chain Process. The role will require individuals to be familiar with the complete range of sourcing activities, including the analysis of spend, the formulation of and implementation of commodity strategies, the negotiation of contracts and the ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships

Commodity Manager Accountabilities:
- Develop and Maintain Commodity Sourcing Strategies
- Undertake spend analysis, supplier assessment and supplier selection to agreed processes.
- Develop and maintain a small number of suppliers to become best practice sources.
- Reduce supply base in line with commodity strategy.

Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with suppliers on behalf of the Company.
- Ensure appropriate performance measures (Quality, Cost, Delivery) of supply base and feedback of results
- Develop and maintain global partnerships in the supply base to support current and future business and technology demands.
- Undertake contract negotiation and ensure appropriate flow-down of terms and conditions.

Cost Management
- Ensure that agreed sourcing targets for benefits are met in the commodity portfolio.
- Provide support to teams as required in establishing programme cost models
- Negotiation and management of cost models for suppliers
- Identification and delivery of opportunities for cost reduction

Commodity Manager Qualifications / Personal Characteristics:
- Demonstrable experience of developing, implementing and managing commodity strategies.
- Professional Supply Chain certification or qualification desired e.g. CIPS, HNC
- Highly data literate and driven by the facts of a case.
- Excellent commercial skills with the ability to analyse and negotiate complex supply agreements.
- Ability to travel to supplier locations as required
