Principle Embedded Software/Firmware Eng Job in Surrey,Guildford

The Principle Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer will be involved in the development of a wide range of software defined radio solutions from small embedded low-power devices through to complex high-performance radio systems.

The Principle Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer will lead development activities and be responsible for an agreed delivery schedule and lead the activity of small development teams including mentoring junior engineering staff. The Principle Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer will have client interaction to gather requirements, deliver solutions and bid for new work, and maintenance of the company`s leading-edge capability through research and monitoring developments in relevant technology.

Skills/Experience -

Must be educated to degree level in Engineering or Physics as well as strong `A` levels (including Maths and Physics).

Must be highly motivated with a broad interest in wireless technology and be aware of latest industry developments.

Good technical understanding of fundamental principles of digital radio communications theory and its practical applications.

Experience of Firmware development (e.g. VHDL), have a range of other development skills including one or more of the following: Embedded software, C, C , Java, JSP.

Proven record of delivering development projects, sometimes under demanding project timescales, and comfortable working on multiple projects at the same time and in a dynamic environment where deadlines and priorities are changeable.

Experience of working with multi-disciplinary development teams in a project based environment, client facing experience and strong inter-personal and influencing skills.

Some understanding of digital and/or analogue hardware design with some hands-on laboratory experience of debug/set-to-work would be desirable.

Must be eligible for UK security clearance.
