Systems Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical or Electro Mechanical) required for a large aerospace OEM based in Dorset.
The ideal experience will be with fuel systems within an aerospace environment; however other fluid systems including landing gear, hydraulics, pneumatics and the like would be of great interest.
Examples of ideal backgrounds are fuel, oxygen, hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
A good understanding of solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical technology, control engineering and airworthiness standards will be required.
Experience of a Requirements Management tool such as DOORS or CRADLE is highly desirable, as is Six Sigma training.
Role Purpose
Provide the technical lead for an allocated sub-system or group of components.
Responsible for development of the allocated equipment, consistent with the goals and objectives of the project, having regard for innovation, performance, cost (recurring and non-recurring) and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Responsible for delivering the technical elements of the project to agree performance, schedule and cost.
When required, provide point of contact with the customer for managing technical issues.
When applicable, manage the technical interface with equipment and service suppliers.
Responsible for technical decisions within the allocated project.
Direct motivate and provide leadership for a team, when allocated
Ensure effective and open communication throughout the interdisciplinary technical team.
Manage and deliver the required product(s) within PIP and PIM.
Seek to minimise the effects of change scope creep ensure changes are formally processed.
Technically competent in an interdisciplinary environment
Methodical and organised
Good facilitator/mediator able to resolve conflict.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in relevant departmental function or technology.
Good understanding of Engineering department processes and procedures.
Good understanding of aircraft industry standards
Project engineering experience in engineering products development
Key Measures and Milestones
Completion of the project on time and within cost, to the required quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
Generation and deliver of project metrics.
