An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Stress Engineer to join a leading aviation company on the Isle of Wight. The position is offering a salary up to £50k.
The successful Stress Engineer is required: To lead and conduct the stress analysis activities in support of Engineering Project requirements and work in conjunction with other functional areas of the company to develop existing and new products/structures. Coordinate tasks, monitor and report on delivery performance. Ensure team activities follow appropriate quality management procedures for defining technical content and project reporting. Identify the requirements of a task, establish good working relationships with key stakeholders, estimate the work content, technically guide a team of Stress Engineers, including outsource/offload providers. Liaise with customer to report progress, schedule and technical issues. Provide engineering input to technical, commercial and contract reviews within the company. To oversee & conduct stress analysis on new and existing structures, ensuring that all elements of the activity are being satisfactorily addressed. To develop test plans and processes in line with customer, company and industry requirements in order to ensure the acceptability of both materials and finished product To assist Chief Engineers in delivering Stress projects to completion on time, within budget and to the agreed technical requirements. To ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with internal policies, procedures and work instructions. To work in co-operation with other functional areas of the company to achieve local and overall business objectives – in particular the design office. To identify and implement Lean initiatives and to encourage a culture of Continuous Improvement within the Engineering function. To supplement the capabilities and capacity of the Stress Office by identifying work packages suitable for off-load to external suppliers.
Skills and Experience Engineering degree or equivalent – ideally Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautics degree Possess significant previous stress analysis experience with the Aerospace industry i.e Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier Have knowledge of the specialist functions within Engineering, interpret and assess their design input, usually with some assistance. Able to create estimates and schedules. Experience of managing outsourced offload activity
Will ideally have expertise in the use of one or more of the following systems: Hypermesh Patran Nastran MathCad Expertise in working with Outsource Service/Offload providers ideal but not essential Exceptional interpersonal skills as a leader Must be of keen intellect and able to juggle varied and abstract concepts Strong minded and committed, able to embody vision and engage people in the delivery of that vision. Able to constructively challenge at all levels and influence and shape the strategy for the business. Possesses in-depth knowledge of stress analysis techniques Good knowledge of airworthiness requirements Capability of verifying the structural design philosophy by hand calculations. Have good working knowledge of available bespoke software techniques. Prepared to work on the complete range of company Aerospace programmes, both civil and military Able to travel as required by the position including internationally
