Berkshire jobs boost with Wokingham future plans

Wokingham’s redevelopment plans has been placed on hold for long enough, according to council members.

Berkshire jobs in construction could gain from the town’s redevelopment which includes thousands of new homes that form part of the Strategic Development Locations (SDLs).

Councillor David Lee commented to the Bracknell News: “The redevelopment is a top priority for the council. We want to create the right kind of town for local residents, workers and visitors and we are working closely with members of the public to create a clear vision for the town's future.”

According to the news source, an exhibition sprouting proposed plans will be held after which residents will be given time to comment.

Following the exhibition and observations received, a period of formal consultation will take place.

Councillor Gary Cowan told the news provider: “Once the masterplan is formally adopted by the council in the summer, any planning applications submitted within the town centre will be informed by it and have to conform to what's in it - including those that will come forward as part of the redevelopment.”

Get Wokingham reported that the SDLs consist out of four masterplans which encompasses the building of 12,500 new homes by 2026.

The next 16 years will see massive changes happen in Wokingham which will create plenty of temporary jobs.
