A new centre that is dedicated to helping people find jobs in the South East has recently been established in Medway.
The Employ Medway Advice Centre provides information and support to those seeking jobs or training opportunities in the region.
Services include personal development and action to improve self esteem, guidance to recently unemployed people in terms of future job opportunities, access to skills training courses, and advice on CVs and interviews.
There are also a range of on-site courses available to employers at the centre. These include new business support, financial and debt management advice, free job vacancy advertising, and help with identifying the right candidates to interview.
Since it opened in August 2009, more than 1,500 people have visited the centre. Over 300 have become registered members, 105 clients have received one-to-one employment support, and over 94 people have accessed training sessions that will help them find work.
Councillor Jane Chitty, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for strategic development and economic growth, told Kent Online that Medway Council had once again demonstrated its commitment to helping get people back in work, particularly during the recession.
The project is financed by SEEDA and Medway Council as part of the Employ North Kent programme.
