SUBMITTED DATE: 19/11/09
Dairy farm boosts agricultural jobs A dairy company is going to invest in a new milk processing facility on the outskirts of London and will create around 500 agriculture jobs in the country.

Arla Foods announced that it will build the new facility as part of its ongoing growth strategy which it is implementing in the UK.

The new roles will include positions in the production, distribution and administration areas of the dairy business.

Peter Lauritzen, chief executive of Arla Foods UK, said: "Arla is totally committed to a long-term sustainable future in the UK and the construction of the new dairy demonstrates that commitment."

The boss added that the company already has a top class facility in Leeds but said that the new building in the south-east will be industry leading and environmentally friendly.

In other agriculture jobs news, the government claimed that the new CallConnect and InterConnect will help to link people in rural communities.
