More than 200
engineering jobs could be created if a new Oxfordshire-based team is granted a license to partake in the Formula One competition next season.
Brabham Grand Prix Ltd has put in a license request for next year's Formula One championship that would see the team take over the defunct Super Aguri team, which was situated in Leafield, Oxfordshire.
The team told the BBC that if they were successful they would employ a very similar number of staff to the folded outfit, which means more than 200 Oxford jobs could be created.
Brabham has applied for a license under the new 'cost-capped' regulations, which means the race team would only be able to spend a limited amount of money for greater design freedom when developing its car.
Ferrari has rebelled against the plans to restrict design options for teams who over-spend and the F1 giant recently threatened to quit the sport next year if the decision goes ahead.
