Hampshire jobs with Eastleigh car park revamp

Hampshire jobs in Eastleigh could gain from a £1m proposed revamp for a 30-year-old building between Southampton Road and Mitchell Road.

According to the Southern Daily Echo, the renovation of the building will involve improvements on its structure, CCTV and new ticketing equipment.

The revamp will also include the improvement of lighting inside the multi-storey car park and whitewashing concrete walls and columns.

However, Eastleigh Borough Council is aiming to borrow the £1.1m funding to pay for the scheme if it is approved.

According to the news provider a report on the proposal said: “The multi-storey car park is an important element of the council’s business and generates revenue to underpin other services.
 
“It plays a significant role in the economic viability and vitality of Eastleigh and will be important to support any future development of the town centre. The recommended upgrade will extend the operational life by a significant number of years and enhance the image of the car park and the town centre overall.”

Other construction jobs in Eastleigh could be created through transforming the town’s ballroom into a youth centre.

More than 300 children will benefit from the pool tables, IT suite and counselling service the council plans for the building.

Council leader Keith House told the news source: “The need for a youth facility in the town centre has long been acknowledged and this is an exciting scheme that will provide a much-needed youth facility for the town centre.
