Mature jobseekers are set to benefit from a country-wide road show that will be taking place during the month of January 2010.
The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise (Prime) Cymru will help over-50s find volunteer positions and jobs in Wales.
Rebecca Thomas, Carmarthenshire co-ordinator for Prime Cymru, told the South Wales Guardian that her organisation was encouraging people over 50 to “grasp the many volunteering opportunities this county offers”.
“At this time of year many people feel ready to do something different. Volunteering is a way not only to give to the county, but to see some real benefit to yourself as well.”
“Studies have shown that volunteering has a really positive effect on individuals’ health. I can see other benefits in many of the clients we have worked with – from growing in confidence and meeting new people, to experiencing new opportunities and having more fun,” she added.
Prime Cymru will also be supporting mature jobseekers who are looking for paid employment.
Since it was established in 2001 by Prince Charles, the organisation has offered free guidance to more than 5,000 people, helped launch more than 1,400 new businesses and aided the creation of over 2,000 jobs in Wales.
