Legal jobs at Clifford Chance have acquired a massive role on a joint venture to build 10 new nuclear plants in the UK.
According to The Lawyer, the magic circle firm has been hired to assist with the 50-50 joint venture between RWE Npower and E.On UK to create Horizon Nuclear Power.
The law firm has worked with both partners before, making them the appropriate choice to handle the deal.
The team who will play key roles in the legal aspects will be Andrew Grenvill, Nigel Howorth, Tracy London and Mark Poulton.
The project is part of a £15bn investment to build 10 new nuclear plants and create 11,000 UK jobs over 11 years.
The Government has identified 10 sites for nuclear developments. Most of these locations already accommodate a nuclear plant of some sort.
Horizon, which is based in Gloucester has already bought a site in Anglesey and another in Gloucestershire.
It has been reported that each of the new sites will create 800 permanent jobs and 10,000 temporary construction jobs.
RWE and E.ON have 23 nuclear reactors in Germany and Sweden.
