London jobs recovery with Canon confidence

London jobs will benefit from Canon’s decision to make their European Head Quarters in the capital.

Canon’s HQ in London together with a new survey indicating the capital’s leading business position in the world, is reason enough to expect job recovery as well.

According to the City of London’s recent ‘The Global Financial Services Index of international financial professionals’, London ranks higher than rivals New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Canon, the leading camera makers just opened their new building in London.

According to The London Daily News, Mayor of London Boris Johnson, expressed his confidence in the city at the opening of the new Canon building.

“I commend Canon Europe on their taste in choosing our great capital city to establish their HQ. It demonstrates that despite the current global turmoil, London is still the premier business city of choice, thanks to our stability and innovation, a highly skilled work force, a tradition of openness, and unrivalled access to western markets. 

“London is also an exceptional, exciting and diverse city. Its people come from every continent, country and represent every culture in the world, so from wherever you are from you will never feel far from home.”

The mayor invited other international businesses to indulge in the city’s good fortune.

“That's why figures show such continued and strong interest in investing in this city, and I say to global companies looking to follow Canon, we'll give you a big welcome and do all we can to make you immediately successful,” he commented.

The newspaper also reported on the amount of jobs created in the capital due to international offices in London.

Between April last year and March 2009 over 500 foreign companies created more than 11,000 jobs in the city.

As London awaits recovery of the financial job sector in the capital, Canon’s investment in the city will create new employment opportunities in the meanwhile.
