Around 300
manufacturing jobs have been created after a UK dock managed to secure a contract to transform a passenger ship into a luxury ocean liner.
Swansea Dry Dock won the contract to do the work on the Saga Pearl II and the work on the vessel will run for three months, giving a temporary lift to the employment situation in the sector.
A Saga Group spokesman said: "The dry dock facility will now be opened and refurbished, providing some 300 jobs over a three-month period, enabling it to compete for future business."
He added that the refit will be the most comprehensive and expensive in the company's history and the ship will include a sports deck, cinema and an impressive library.

manufacturing jobs after prime minister Gordon Brown announced he planned to continue with the Eurofighter scheme, which will produce hundreds of Eurofighter jet planes.
