Merchant expansion to create Belfast hospitality jobs

The Merchant hotel in Belfast is planning a massive £16m expansion which will improve their business and create new hospitality jobs.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the hotel will not only increase their room total with 38 additional rooms but also add a spa, gym, jazz bar and a roof top garden.
 

The hotel will also improve their conference facilities as part of the expansion. The development is set to be completed next summer.

Bill Wolsey, owner of The Merchant commented at a gathering where the blueprint was unveiled: “I am delighted to see another part of my vision for The Merchant Hotel being realised here today.

“The New Chapter has been in development for a number of years with careful consideration afforded to absolutely every new element.

“We have created a landmark that the people of Belfast can continue to be take pride in.

"The innovative facilities will allow us to further grow our profile as an international standard bearer for Northern Ireland's tourism and hospitality industry.”

Wolsey awarded the hotel’s internationally acclaimed status to the hard work of his team.
 

The new development will also lead to new temporary and permanent jobs at the hotel.
