A new care service may help to bolster
health jobs and reassure people who are worried about growing old and suffering from illness in later life, according to one politician.
Health secretary Andy Burnham said that the proposed National Care Service, which is still being draw up, will help to take the fear out of getting older.
He said: "Of course many of us worry about getting ill or not getting about so easily when we get old, that's only natural. But I don't want people to worry about how they will be looked after and how that care will be paid for."
The comments come after a Department of Health survey showed that 86 per cent of people admit to being worried about their well being as they grow into old age.
Recently, the government launched the National Skills Academy for Social Care which will provide people in
health jobs with training.
