retail jobs in Northern Ireland have received a welcome boost after one of the UK's biggest supermarket chains pledged to expand one of its stores, creating 350 roles in the process.
The Belfast Telegraph reported on the Balloo development in Bangor which will increase the size of the current store and present an opportunity for workers.
Environment minister Edwin Poots said: "This approval will see the development of a new modern store and will be a welcome boost in terms of job creation with approximately 350 full and part time jobs."
Chris Templeman, head of property development at Sainsbury's, added that the development has been helped by "positive engagement" for the authority's planning department, which helped the application progress.
