Surrey jobs in Chertsey could increase after two stores in the town’s centre have made a comeback.
The old Chertsey bookshop has re-opened under new management and a silver jewellery store in Sainsbury Centre has opened up.
Drew Belobaba, new owner of Chertsey Bookshop, told the Surrey Herald: “We understand how important the book shop was to the people of Chertsey, not just as a shop, but as a meeting place for parents, families and colleagues.
“It has been welcomed back by people with a lot of enthusiasm and I think Chertsey is receiving a boost from us and other new businesses opening up."
The town has seen several stores close down during the last year and a half. However, according to the newspaper, residents believe that the latest two store openings may suggest a rejuvenation of shops in town.
A regular shopper in Chertsey, Adam Lawton, 37, commented to the news provider: “The town definitely seems to be getting younger, and the new shops are probably just what Chertsey needs.
“It's a shame that older businesses have had to close, but unfortunately with progress, there are often casualties like that.”
New Chertsey retail jobs could be on the menu if more stores like these open up this year.
