Surrey jobs: More children’s centres to support young minds

Surrey County Council (SCC) will create three more children’s centres in the county which will enhance young minds but also boost Surrey jobs.

According to Redhill and Reigate Life, £2.6m has been approved for the centres in Earlswood, Hew Haw and Stanwell.

Councillor Peter Martin told the publication: “Our children’s centres play a key role in providing childcare, early education and family support services in the heart of communities.

“They are part of our commitment to providing first-class early years provision so children can flourish at home and when they go to school.

“The centres are proving very successful and popular, and I would encourage families to visit their local children's centre to find out about the great facilities we provide.”

Presently over 50,000 children under the age of five, benefit from the SCC’s centres across the county.

The council will have invested £30m by next April as well as contributed to plenty of new jobs.

The council also introduced mobile centres, the newspaper reported. The mobile children’s centres cover remote areas in the county that don’t have access to similar centres.

These areas include Reigate and Banstead, Mole Valley, Guildford, Waverley and Tandridge.
