Engineering and manufacturing jobs have been secured after TATA Motors secured a £175 million loan for its Jaguar Land Rover business.
The company has signed a deal for the private sector funding meaning the division can continue to invest in new models and launch the XJ saloon later this year.
TATA Motors had been in talks with the British government to secure a loan but had stalled the talks due to the tough conditions imposed by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
Business secretary Peter Mandelson said: "We understand the Tata group will now be successful in resolving longer term financial needs but we are willing to help again if necessary."
Maggie Throup, Conservative candidate for Solihull, where a lot of the jobs are based, said the news is great for all people with
engineering and manufacturing jobs at the Jaguar Land Rover factory.
The manufacturing sector was given another boost this week, when printing firm Skymark revealed it would create around 80 jobs in Scunthorpe.
