Candidates who are trained now can help to ensure a supply of skilled individuals for
management jobs of the future, it has been suggested.
The Chartered Management Institute is urging companies to retain a focus on talent development.
By doing so, the organisation claims that it is possible for companies to cater more fully for the demands of management jobs in the coming years.
Petra Wilton, director of policy and research at the Chartered Management Institute, says: "Skills development is essential if they are to be well placed when the economy eventually picks up."
The view was shared by 82 per cent of respondents to a recent survey conducted by the institute.
And the majority - 52 per cent - of those canvassed added that a failure to address the kinds of skills required by management jobs could also result in reduced earnings for the company as a whole.
Figures from the institute indicate that there are currently 4.3 million individuals in management positions across the UK, including around 1.4 million women.
