Travelodge will create 250 hospitality jobs across 10 new hotels with their £47m expansion plans for 2010.
The Travelodge group controls 385 hotels and 27,000 rooms in the UK and will add 857 rooms to their current total next year.
The group plans to increase the total of hotels to 1000 by 2020.
The 10 new developments for next year will be build in Edinburgh Rose, Edinburgh Waterloo Place, High Wycombe Octagon, Ipswich, Llanelli, London Ealing, Manchester Piccadilly, Newbury, Newcastle Under Lyme and Wadebridge.
Travelodge's managing director for development, Paul Harvey commented: “With 60 exchanges announced in 2009, we have now signed more hotels this year than ever before.
“Whilst the property market is still challenging we have been able to add some fantastic sites to our estate. With this selection of hotels, we have managed to enter new towns for the first time and also build on our strength in the major cities.”
The Travelodge group is owned by Dubai International Capital and it has been reported that most of the 250 new UK jobs will be recruited from Job Centre Plus.
Harvey added: “We are now the biggest hotel brand in Edinburgh having doubled our room stock in the city in the last 24 months and now operate eight sites in Manchester.”
