It is important that the nation's workforce continues to receive training in order to cater for the future of
UK jobs, it has been claimed.
Ruth Spellman OBE, chief executive of the Chartered Management Institute, explains that high-level UK jobs require a certain skill level of their applicants.
"Now, more than ever, is the time to invest wisely," she suggests.
"If organisations think that developing competence is expensive, they should consider the cost of incompetence."
She adds that only around one in five managers currently have professional qualifications indicating that they are suitable for the role in which they are employed.
Her comments could lead more candidates to look to such qualifications in order to make their CV stand out against other applicants for senior-level roles.
And by doing so, Ms Spellman adds that the UK's businesses could be better placed to capitalise on the economy as it recovers and more opportunities become available.
